Andy Deller

I’m Andy and I’m the Head Professional at Mid Herts Golf Club. I have been a fully qualified professional for 13 years having most recently been a Senior PGA Professional at Luton Hoo Hotel Golf & Spa, I’m delighted to be the Head Professional at Mid Herts at such an exciting time with the brand new swing studio and conversion of the Pro Shop.

Coaching is my passion and in my career, I have taught numerous lessons to a variety of golfers whatever their handicap. I enjoy seeing the progress being made and take an individualistic approach when teaching so that changes can be made more effectively.

Individual and joint lessons are available as well as group sessions for Club sections or for specific elements of your golf game such as putting or chipping. I’m also available for playing lessons which would focus on course strategy, club selection and vision out on the course. The elements you can’t work on at the range or a studio.

I turned professional in 1979, and after completing my PGA training under the insightful Ian Connelly (Nick Faldo’s Coach) I decided to play full time. I played in various PGA events in the U.K. and Europe, with my best memory a tie for 3rd with Greg Norman in Cannes. Suffice to say after that our playing careers went in different directions! I have focused on coaching for well over 35 years and given more than 45,000 lessons. In 1995 I was appointed Hertfordshire County Coach and have enjoyed working with male and female County golfers for the past 25 years. In 2004 I was fortunate enough to be voted into Golf Monthly’s UK Top 50 Coaches in the U.K. My Coaching philosophy is to enhance what a player already has, rather than trying to reinvent them. After reviewing a player’s game, I use swing drills and various practice routines to mould the movement. I believe simplicity is the key, so that when we go on the course the mind and body have a clear process to trust. I will also look at your short game as this is without doubt the quickest way to lowering your score.

Full member of the Ladies European Tour since 2012, competed in over 150 professional events worldwide, 1 LET win- Czech open 2015, 6 major appearances.
Golf has been my passion for over 20 years. I have competed worldwide - from a top American college to the LET and LPGA tour. While continuing my playing career I look forward to sharing my golf knowledge and love of the game at Mid Herts golf club through individual, group or on course lessons.
